We grow over 30 different kinds of vegetables using organic, small-scale farming practices. We grow on permanent raised beds and also have 4 unheated hoophouses where we grow early spring greens and summer hot crops. We harvest weekly from May - December for our 150 member Farm Share program and our self-serve Farm Store. We also grow seedlings for our annual seedling sale in May. We’re passionate about growing food in a way that does not harm our environment, and providing it to our community.

We're also a family farm raising two young children. Life is busy on our farm!

Job Description

We're looking for two people to join our small team (the farm crew currently consists of ourselves, a part time staff member, and weekly volunteers) to help us plant, tend to, harvest, wash, bunch, and pack veggies from April - November.

This is an active, busy, physical job where we work together to tackle a long list of farming tasks each week. Each day will bring a different variety of tasks. You'll really get to see - and eat - the fruits (or veggies) of your labour!

Work Environment

Your "office" is the great outdoors - or the greenhouse, or under our outdoor but plastic-covered wash/pack area. You’ll get to know the birds and the bugs and the wind and the changes of the season and the way the clouds look when it’s going to rain. Working in all kinds of weather from Spring - Fall, you’ll get lots of sunshine - and you'll also get pretty wet and dirty some of the time. Work is mostly team-based but ocassionally independent.

Why should you work here?

  • Every day is different, filled with a variety of tasks.

  • Our “office” is the great outdoors and your “coworkers” include birds, butterflies, and honeybees (oh, and the cutest farm cat and dog)

  • You get to see the direct results of your work as you watch what you put into the soil grow into vegetables that feed our community.

  • You’ll gain all the skills needed to grow your own food.

  • You’ll get to enjoy all the organic veggies you can eat!

  • It’s meaningful work with a warm community surrounding it.

Is this job for you?

  • Are you passionate about any or all of the following: the environment, food, gardening, organic agriculture?

  • Do you love the outdoors and nature?

  • Do you like active, busy, physical work?

  • Are your curious and enjoy learning?

No experience required — interest and a love of the outdoors go a long way!

We farm because we love it. Working outside all day, experiencing first-hand the changes of the season, and seeing the direct results of your labour is so rewarding. If you answered yes to the above questions then we think you might love it too, and get a lot out of this completely unique and satisfying job.

How to Apply

To apply, email Kim and Alex at mulberrymoonfarm@gmail.com and tell us:

  1. 3 fun facts about you (or more!)

  2. Why do you want to work here?

  3. What skills or experience would you bring to the farm?

  4. If you were a vegetable, what would you be? (By the way, Kim is a carrot and Alex is a tomato)

And please feel free to ask us any questions!

Please indicate you saw this posting on our website.

We're really looking forward to hearing from you!
